Canaan Valley

Why do we love Canaan Valley and the surrounding areas? In short - breathtaking natural beauty and adventure in every season.

Just a three-hour drive east of DC and nestled in the highlands of West Virginia, Canaan Valley is a world away. It’s the highest large valley east of the Mississippi, with plentiful snow (150 inches on average) in the winter, cool temperatures and wildflowers in the summer, and stunning foliage in the fall. The altitude, climate and unique flora and fauna are more reminiscent of Canada than the US in parts.

The valley is home to three ski resorts, a state park, and a large protected wildlife refuge. To the east is the stunning Dolly Sods Wilderness. To the north are the charming mountain towns of Davis and Thomas, and Blackwater Falls State Park. There’s something for everyone in every season in Canaan Valley. Check out the the local tourism page for more details!

Huckleberry Hill is conveniently located under 5 minutes to both Timberline Mountain skiing and Dolly Sods, and close to all the offerings in the area.
